Reflecting on a pandemic typology. The parklet for the Grace Darling Hotel is a response to a newly understood street typology; the parklet. Winner of the Kevin Borland Award for Small Projects Architecture at the 2025 Victorian Architecture Awards, it draws upon Melbourne City’s design standards, more specifically the street furniture; kiosks, park benches, bins, water fountains, signal boxes, public toilets etc. Commonly painted in subtle variations of Brunswick Green, these elements are common and familiar amongst the Melbourne streetscape.
